Cost and Comments on my Croatia--Greece Trip--2021

The 54-day trip to Croatia, Montenegro, and Greece was one of my most expensive trips compared to those I have taken in Asia and South America.

I spent my first 18 days in Croatia with a one-day tour to Kotor, Montenegro.

In Croatia, the cost was $2,147 for a daily cost of $119.  Food costs were $1,184 for a daily cost of $65 per day.  Lodging costs were $488 for a daily cost of $29 per night. Travel and tour costs were $475.

In my 34 days in Greece, the cost was $3,647 for a daily cost of $107.  Food costs were $2,155 for a daily cost of $63 per day.  Lodging costs were $619 for a daily cost of $19 per night.  Travel and tour costs were $1,089—$242 was for air flights and most of the rest was for ferry and bus rides. I used 66,000 points on my United Air account for two international flights on Lufthansa Air from Seattle to Zagreb, Croatia, and return from Athens, Greece to Seattle.

In both Croatia and Greece, I was relieved to see that their roads were generally smooth and well maintained.  In the cities, many of the roads were cleaned daily by street sweepers and maintenance people.  There were no tent encampments and very few homeless who were sleeping in the streets unlike what is prevalent in the US. They have universal health care in these countries which addresses the problems of drug abuse, alcoholism, and mental health.

I enjoyed my two months of travel without seeing tent encampments that now fill up Seattle’s streets and parks.

Refuges and gypsies are frequent hawkers of retail goods and flowers to tourists at the many restaurants and other gathering places in Athens.

As you can see, my major trip expenses were for food.  Here are some of the meals I enjoyed.

I have recently uploaded all of my travel videos to YouTube now that they allow longer uploads and you may want my other shorter travel videos.  That link is https://www.youtube.com/c/huntforgold

If you do go there, please subscribe to my video channel since it will help me eventually get some income there and help with my future travels. Fewer people are using DVDs so I am transitioning to streaming my travels on my YouTube channel.
