Midelt Adventures—January 20 to 21, 2019

On our way south to Midelt, we passed through several fertile valleys, pine, and cedar forests.  We ran across these Barbary monkeys who were accustomed to begging for food from the passing motorists.

It was then on to an odd French chalet-like village that was a tourist draw for Moroccans because the architecture was so unique to Morocco—more like that found in Europe.

We ran into the snow as we approached the Middle Atlas summit and got out for a bit of a snowball fight before pressing on to Midelt.

The Midelt area is surrounded by fruit orchards, primarily apples.  We drove up through the orchards to our guesthouse, the Auberge Jafar.  After stowing our luggage, we gathered for a hike up to a spectacular gorge near the village of Bremmem.

After a traditional tagine dinner of meat and vegetables in the conical casserole, we requested a local folklore dance performance.  Before the performance, our host had us each put on traditional garb so we could better enjoy the performance.

To our surprise, after the musicians and two dancers began performing, we became performers.

It was another very chilly night in the unheated room—50 degrees—and no hot water!

I have recently uploaded all of my travel videos to YouTube now that they allow longer uploads and you may want to see my travel adventures there.  That link is

If you do go there, please subscribe to my video channel since it will help me eventually get some income there and help with my future travels. Fewer people are using DVDs so I am transitioning to streaming my travels on my YouTube channel.
