Today we saw how Morocco has been a frequent movie location for a whole range of movies ranging from Cleopatra, Black Hawk Down, Lawrence of Arabia, to Game of Thrones. Many of the movies done here use this place as a substitute for Yemen and Afghanistan.
Our guide took us around the various movie sets while a group of horses and camels were being trained for some other upcoming movie.
We ended up staying overnight in Ait Benhaddou and enjoyed climbing up one of the landmark hills across the river. Near there with the kasbah in the background, there was once the arena where Russell Crowe performed in the Gladiator movie.
Nearby they were erecting another movie set with the kasbah in the background. As always nobody was willing to tell us what movie set this was for.
Right before dinner, we got a cooking demonstration on how to make couscous—not the instant type familiar to most of us—at our Auberge la Fibule d’Or.
I have recently uploaded all of my travel videos to YouTube now that they allow longer uploads and you may want to see my travel adventures there. That link is

If you do go there, please subscribe to my video channel since it will help me eventually get some income there and help with my future travels. Fewer people are using DVDs so I am transitioning to streaming my travels on my YouTube channel.
